News from
the Boulder Co-Op Market
Hello Friends;
I was interested to read an article written by
Wendell Berry in the Winter 2001 issue of Orion
Magazine. In the article, Berry maintains that it
is up to each of us to take action in our
everyday lives in order to reduce our dependence
on global multi-national corporations and the
products and services they provide us. Only by
doing this, according to Berry, can we strengthen
our local economy. As Berry states, Without
prosperous local economies, the people have no
power and the land no voice. Many
communities across the country are acting by
establishing local food cooperatives. Given
Boulders reputation for progressive action,
it is surprising that Boulder does not have an
established co-op, however, that is soon to
change. The Boulder Co-op Market already has over
600 members, and is actively looking for a
location. The Market intends to carry as many
locally grown or produced products as possible.
I invite you to
join the Boulder Co-op Market and take back your
community! You can find out more information by
visiting their web site at www.bouldercoop.com,
or by calling (303) 447-2667.
Thank you for your
continuing support.

Berrys article The Idea of a Local
