DAN GLICK
Tuesday, February 6, 7:30 p.m.

area. By the time they had been extinguished,
several structures had been destroyed, including
the Two Elk Restaurant and the ski patrol
headquarters. In Powder Burn (Public Affairs, $25.00),
DAN GLICK uses the arson to explore not only the
crime itself, but also the many-layered social
fabric of the town, and the relationship between
the town and the owners of the resort.

experts explain with humor, irony, and whimsy the
chemistry of long-lasting relationships. With
simplicity and warmth, Markman illuminates a
deeper, compassionate vision of what constitutes
truly happy long-term relationships.

AMERICAN
POET GREATS LECTURE

our favorite femme fatales, royal divas, and
sumptuous songbirds that reminds us that a little

JUSTIN
MATOTT
Thursday, February 22, 7:30 p.m.
In Independence Days (Brewers Publications, $18.95),
JUSTIN MATOTT takes readers into the mysterious
world of friendship and discovery peculiar to all
of us. Wry, funny, and often sobering, the
stories revolve around the catalyst that forges
friendships, diffuses differences, and inspires
revelations. At their center is one peripheral,
almost subliminal but unifying element: Beer.
Independence Days
ALLEN
SCHOEN
Saturday, February 24, 2:00 p.m.
When ALLEN SCHOEN
began practicing veterinary medicine 21 years ago,
his peers scoffed at his assertion that animals
have feelings and emotions. In Kindred Spirits (Broadway, $25.00) Schoen
draws on his extensive experience and the latest
research in animal neurophysiology to show how
humans and animals can mutually benefit from
heightened awareness and respect.

Can You Tell An Independent Book Store
From A Chain? INDEPENDENTS HAVE BOOK
SENSE
|
 |
Passion. Knowledge.
Personality. Community Involvement. That's what
it means to have Book Sense and
that's why Boulder Book Store has joined with
thousands of independents around the country to
make our customers more aware of the dedication
and diversity you can find by avoiding cookie
cutter chains and seeking out independent
businesses.
Book Sense
is, in part, a marketing campaign (designed by
those very smart "Got Milk?" people) to
promote awareness of independents. You can now
see the Book Sense logo in the windows of your
favorite local book stores. Plus, when you're
traveling, you'll be able to seek out new
independents that really reflect their local
culture.
Look for the bi-monthly
Book Sense newsletter, as well
as our Book Sense Bestseller
display at the Boulder Book Store. You can also
purchase Book Sense gift
certificates, which are good at more than 1,100
Book Sense stores across the country!
BOOK FAIR THIS MONTH
